The monastery of En Calcat was founded in 1890 by Dom Romain Banquet.
The abbatial church is open to anyone looking for spiritual serenity or willing to attend mass (the liturgy is given in french and gregorian).
The two monasteries of Dourgne were founded together in 1890: Dom Romain Banquet (born in the hamlet called En Calcat in 1840) founded the St Benoit Monastery, gathering catholic benedictine monks, while Mother Marie Cronier founded the Ste Scholastique Abbey for the nuns .
The two communities are independent from one another and both live under the rule edicted by Saint Benedict in the 6th century.
Their respective churches are opened to anyone looking for spiritual serenity or willing to attend mass (the liturgy is given in french and gregorian).
The guesthouse welcomes visitors for peacefull retreats, and pilgrims can stop by on the Way of St James and stay overnight (by reservation).
