This building presents the Catholic religious heritage of yesterday and today, in the Monts et Lacs sector in Haut Languedoc
1828, from the will and work of the inhabitants of the hamlets of Crozes, Bartheses, Salamou... and the many deviations in the surrounding area, the church and the presbytery of Tastavy were built.
The demographic collapse of the parish led to the virtual abandonment of the church and its presbytery.
2005, a team of volunteers, formed into an association, decided to breathe life and soul back into these buildings.
The presbytery is restored; the rooms welcome the visitor who, while immersing himself in the past, rediscovers the fundamentals of the faith which gave meaning to the commitment of the builders.
From the room dedicated to family piety we pass, upstairs, into the room which brings to life the major stages of the Christian's life: baptism, profession of faith, marriage, ... then into the one which presents the progress of the liturgical year: Christmas, Easter, etc.
The visit continues with the reconstruction of a sacristy and the presentation of various objects of worship; finally, we enter what was the office of a country priest.
Returning to the ground floor, a room recalls the accompaniment of the faithful in the final stage of their earthly life.
• A large room is dedicated to exhibitions, the most remarkable being the one which presents a collection of liturgical ornaments, masterpieces of needle painting, the work of the Poor Clare sisters of Mazamet. The conservatory backs onto the church where magnificent frescoes by Mr. Greschny color the heart and intoxicate the visitor.
