Musée de France
An unusual encounter between heritage and creativity
Founded in 1938 by Occitan writer and poet Théodore Calbet, the Musée des Arts et Traditions Populaires de Grisolles boasts a range of collections relating to different aspects of daily life in the region, from prehistoric times to the present day. Nestled in an old 17th-century half-timbered bourgeois house, the Musée Calbet will seduce you with the diversity and charm of its collections and the quality of its exhibits. An open, lively museum where all the colors of our heritage are on display year-round... Finally, since 2002, the Musée Calbet has opened its doors to contemporary art, inviting artists to exhibit and take up residencies, revisiting notions of heritage, community and territory. An original encounter that makes this museum a place of unusual dialogue between ancient heritage and artistic creation... A departmental original worth discovering.
